Stephen Mangione (Palm Springs, 1982) is an artist and educator currently working out of San Diego, CA.  In 2013, he received a Master of Fine Arts from San Diego State University and, in 2007, Bachelor of Fine Arts from California State University Chico.  Stephen is formally trained to work with ceramic and glass, but him and his work, are also largely influenced by food, digestion and health.

The work that he produces revisits his own genetic health concerns in relationship to the gastrointestinal tract. In 2003, he graduated with an Associate of Arts degree in Culinary Arts Management from the College of the Desert, which helped to cultivate his deep love for food and cooking.  This serves as the catalyst for the content and making of his work.

Stephen currently works as Equipment Technician at the San Diego State University School of Art, Design, and Art History.  He remains active in the community through the engagement of workshops and teaching assistantships at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and Arrowmont School or Arts and Crafts.
